New anti-virus software for Windows PCs

24 April 2014, 10:27 — David Marsh

The University is changing the anti-virus software which it uses on Windows PCs in April 2014. Users of some types of computer may need to take action to install the new software.

  • Managed desktop computers will be updated automatically.
  • Managed laptops will require to be connected to the University network to allow the update to take place.
  • Users of unmanaged computers (including home computers using the anti-virus software) must uninstall the existing anti-virus software and install the replacement by themselves.

If you have an unmanaged Windows PC, and will need to replace the anti-virus software, please refer to the Information Services website for instructions. If you need assistance, please contact IS Helpline (as noted on the web page) for further advice.
