Working with Industry (and other external partners)

Working with industry can be a highly rewarding way to develop your research, demonstrate Impact, and build relationships outside the University for you and your students.

Increasingly, many research funding proposals will expect or require evidence of working with external partners, eg industry, the public sector or the third sector.

The School of Mathematics has a dedicated Business Development Executive, Davey Fitch, who is able to discuss all aspects of making the most of your research by working with external partners. He can help to suggest potential partners for you, or advise on where to start looking. Davey can also put you in touch with the support services of the University's commercialisation arm Edinburgh Innovations (EI), who can help with some of the administrative tasks needed to make industry collaboration work.

You can find Davey in room 5209, on extension 505801, or by emailing davey.fitch@ed.ac.uk.
